Doula Services As a labor doula, I provide education and support to mothers and their partners before, during, and immediately after birth.
During pregnancy, I will meet with my client and her birth partner 3-4 times before the birth. I also encourage one meeting in which I can meet your birth team, including your midwife, OB, and other friends or family members that will be attending the birth. During these meetings, we will discuss your wishes for the birth, and I will provide information and education on various topics surrounding childbirth and newborn care. These topics can be flexible and in accordance with what you hope to learn.
During labor, I will be a support person in whatever way that best fits your needs, whether it's helping with comfort measures like massaging your back or getting you cold wash cloths, or advocating for your wishes and working with your healthcare provider to figure out a plan that fits your needs. As a non medical support person, I cannot make decisions or judgement on you or your babies well being, however I can make suggestions and provide information so that you can make your own informed decisions. I am also available to support and educate your birth partner, whether that be your life partner, mother or father, sister, or friend (whomever will attend the birth with you). During the immediate postpartum time, I am available to care for your needs, whether that means getting you a warm meal, assisting with clean up, or helping with anything else that needs attention.
Postpartum Care I offer extended postpartum services, for the first month following your birth, for an additional fee. Postpartum services include weekly visits at your home, to assist with newborn care OR caring for your needs, cooking meals and light cleaning, or newborn care to provide you with time to rest and work on your self care. I will educate you on postpartum self care and health, including physical and emotional health in the months following childbirth. Overnight postpartum services are available for a higher rate, allowing you to sleep and self care during the times when your newborn requires around the clock feedings, which can take a toll on new parents.
Breastfeeding Services Although I am not a lactation consultant, I offer breastfeeding education and assistance to my postpartum clients at no additional cost. If I am unable to meet your needs, I will find resources for local LC's that can assist you, and even attend LC appointments with you as needed.
